Children and Students

"Every student can learn, not just on the same day, or the same way." George Evans

Fleet Tutors teaches students with a broad range of ability and background, ranging from those with learning difficulties to the gifted scholarship candidate. Our tutors start by identifying areas of weakness and developing a customised programme of tuition. They work alongside parents and child to set and agree realistic targets for improvement. Fleet Tutors' private tuition allows for immediate, positive and corrective feedback to help the pupil stay on track and not repeat errors. Tuition follows a natural course from the initial assessment, foundation and reinforcement. The best results are achieved by completing this journey, but the pattern is not rigid. This enables the individual student and tutor to find their best approach together.

Short-term tuition
Parents often use short term tuition for exam preparation. Most clients choose our flexible term-length courses of 13 one-hour sessions. However, there is no minimum session requirement. Tuition can intensify or break during school holidays depending on the needs of the student. We also offer Easter Revision and other short intensive courses during school holidays. Some parents or students turn to private tuition as a top-up just prior to an exam. A last minute call on the eve of an exam is not likely to improve a student's fundamental grasp of a subject but can help in building confidence and exam-taking technique.

Long-term tuition
Parents are increasingly using private tuition as a year-round supplement to their child's schooling for a variety of reasons. They find extra tuition can be especially beneficial in the case where the child receives insufficient individual attention due to a large class size, where there are specific learning difficulties or where the student is not being sufficiently challenged or stimulated at school. Our tutors can liaise with the school or work independently, depending on the wishes of the client. Discounts are available for long-term tuition.

Home Education & Resit Courses
Fleet Tutors is experienced at structuring customised at-home education programmes for children of all ages whose parents, for a variety of reasons, have chosen to remove their child from school. Full GCSE & A-level resit programmes are also available. These enable a young person to retake any number of modules in a more efficient manner than a "crammer" or college because the tuition is completely tailored to their own individual weaknesses rather than to the general profile of a classroom group.
