Private Tutors Special Offer

Tutors for Schools, Academies, Colleges and other educational organisations

Fleet Tutors has been supporting schools in both the state and independent sectors for many years. We provide a professionally managed service for our clients, not just tutor introductions. We are particularly distinguished by the specialised tuition services we provide through schools and councils to help a variety of young people improve their educational attainment. These include pupils who may not be performing to their potential for a variety of reasons. They could have special needs, may have developed challenging behaviour, or could simply be underperforming through a lack of enthusiasm or other personal factors. These pupils could come from a range of abilities including gifted and talented. We work with over 100 schools and over 70 councils providing this kind of service nationwide. Fleet Tutors the only specialist tutoring service provider to be REC (Recruitment and Employment confederation) approved and recommended by The Good Schools Guide.

What can we offer?
Catch-up Tuition. We do a substantial amount of work with academies and state schools providing “catch-up” tuition. While we provide tuition at all Key Stages, this kind of programme often involves pupils who are “borderline” D/C grade at GCSE and who need help in reaching a C grade or above. Tuition can be on a one-to-one basis or in small groups. It can be provided on the school premises during or after the school day, at home, or in another suitably risk assessed venue. These programmes have proved to be particularly popular with academies, who have demonstrated measurable outcomes in terms of targeted GCSE grades being consistently met.

One to One Programme. Fleet Tutors has considerable experience in providing teams of tutors for the government One to One tutoring programme, directed at pupils who are not making the expected progress in English and Maths. For this programme we provide a detailed briefing and information pack to the tutors involved, including information on the objectives and structure of the programme, tuition planning and reporting requirements, and tuition techniques and resources, as mandated and recommended by the Department of Education. We provide a single point of contact for the schools for all administrative matters including the selection of the tutor team and invoicing.

Pupils at Risk of Exclusion. Excluded, and/or with Special Needs. Fleet Tutors are specialists in providing tailored programmes of support for pupils with Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESD), who may be at risk of exclusion or who have been excluded. We also provide tuition for a wide range of pupils with Special Educational Needs, including those with learning difficulties, on the Autistic Spectrum, with ADHD, and students with Dyslexia and similar conditions. These programmes are always planned and supervised by a member of our Education Services Team in addition to the tutor/s. A MAPP meeting (Multi-Agency Planning for Provision) is held in collaboration with school or academy staff and other agencies as appropriate, in order to set up the objectives of the learning programme and to establish roles and responsibilities for the team of professionals who may be involved. The young person’s views and commitment are also crucial. Subsequently one of our Educational Services Advisers, together with the tutor, can help to manage the issues, risks and incidents which so often occur during these programmes, in conjunction with school staff and other professionals such as social workers. Finally, we will work together with the school or other referring agency to help the young person make the transition back into school, or if that is not appropriate, on into another school or specialist provision or on to further education.

Educational Services Team
Fleet Tutors is unique among tutoring providers in having an Educational Services Department, which is responsible for maintaining the pedagogical standards of our tuition. Our Educational Services Manager has over thirty years teaching and tutoring experience including sixteen years experience as a practitioner and manager of services for pupils with challenging behaviour and special needs. Our education service team manages tuition programmes, trains and observes tutors, researches tuition resources and techniques and helps develop new curriculum options and services to our clients.
