History tuition service
The different areas of history that our private tutors offer are listed below.
Our subject list is updated regularly as we register new qualified history tutors however please contact us if you require private tutors for an area not yet listed.
What levels do our history tutors teach?
Fleet Tutors provides high quality history tutors across all levels; from KS1 (primary/preparatory) to university and postgraduate levels. Although history tutors are most commonly needed to support students prior to GCSEs and A levels, our private tutors are also experienced at preparing students for most exams from SATs and 7/8+ entrance exams to common entrance for independent schools (11/13+), grammar school 11+, university and postgraduate exams.
Do our private tutors offer more specific help?
Our history tutors offer expert advice in anything from the Tudors and Victorians to Egyptians and America's political history. Our history tutors develop a tailored programme of tuition for each student which starts by completing an Individual Tuition Plan (ITP) with the student during the first tutoring session in order to determine what specific areas need to be covered and to define the tuition goals and objectives.
What experience do our history tutors have?
All of Fleet Tutors' private tutors are required to have relevant teaching or tutoring experience. Many of our private tutors are qualified teachers; others are experienced tutors with history degrees. All must have up to date knowledge of the curriculum and various exam boards including AQA, EDEXCEL and OCR.
What qualifications do our private tutors have?
All of our private tutors are required to hold at least a degree in the subject they tutor at a 2.1 or above or a teaching qualification recognised by the General Teaching Council. So in the case of history all of our private tutors will hold, as a minimum, a history degree graded at 2.1 or above.
How do you know your children will be safe with our private tutors?
All of our private tutors hold Enhanced Criminal Record Bureau Disclosures (CRBs), or Enhanced Disclosure Scotland's which we check very closely. The CRB are an executive agency of the Home Office which vets applications for people who want to work with children and vulnerable people. We interview and obtain 2 references for every private tutor; one work reference and one character reference. Many of the work referees have worked with the tutor in a teaching environment so they can provide us with a valuable insight in to the way the tutor works with children. The character referee can also help us determine whether a tutor is suitable to work with children due to their characteristics.
All of our tutors are screened very closely by our Tutor Support team.
