Cambridge pre U tutoring

Cambridge pre-U has been available to schools since 2008 and is an alternative approach for 16-19 year olds in preparation for University. Similar to A levels principal subjects are studied in depth and our home tutors can offer support for students across all subjects; there are roughly 26 principal subjects in total.

What qualifications do our pre-U tutors have?

Fleet Tutors believe that Pre-U tuition can only be successful if our home tutors have the relevant qualifications and experience. All of our home tutors must hold a degree in the subject they tutor at 2.1 or above or a teaching qualification recognised by the General Teaching Council. At this level all of our Pre-U tutors hold a degree or teaching qualification specialising in one or two individual subjects.

What experience do our pre-U tutors have?

All of Fleet Tutors' Pre-U tutors are required to have relevant teaching or private tuition experience. Many of our Pre-U tutors are qualified teachers; others are experienced tutors with high class degrees. All must have up to date knowledge of the curriculum and the Pre-U exams.

How do you know your children will be safe with our home tutors?

All of our home tutors hold Enhanced Criminal Record Bureau Disclosures (CRBs), or Enhanced Disclosure Scotland's which we check very closely. The CRB are an executive agency of the Home Office which vets applications for people who want to work with children and vulnerable people. We interview and obtain 2 references for every private tutor; one work reference and one character reference. Many of the work referees have worked with the tutor in a teaching environment so they can provide us with a valuable insight in to the way the tutor works with children. The character referee can also help us determine whether a tutor is suitable to work with children for private tuition due to their characteristics. All of our tutors are screened very closely by our Tutor Support team.
