Fleet Tutors can offer students help with revision using our experienced study skills tutors.  Our tutors are on hand for pastoral support, timetable advice and last minute revision technique.  We recommend online support in order to help with revision as soon as needed.  Home tutoring is also available, if time allows.  Our study skills tutors have suggested a 3 hour package for help with revision; however this can be tailored to suit the students’ individual needs:

3 hour package
Revision and timetable support – 2 hours
General support – 1 hour

A level and GCSE students often need as much help with revision technique as the subjects themselves.  Our study skills tutors do not provide subject tuition; they are put in place to focus on revision support and offer timetable advice.  There is a lot of pressure on A level students to achieve high grades and it is often the case that they have the knowledge but their revision technique is not working successfully.

For students who require help with revision from an earlier stage our study skills tutors suggest the 3 hour package should take place 4-6 weeks before the exams begin.

Exam preparation: Revision and time table support followed by general support

Our study skills tutors are used to being called upon for last minute help and for this they recommend an hour of general support rather than the revision and timetable support.  Telephone support is also available for any last minute assistance:

Last minute re-sit help: General support

What qualifications do our study skills tutors have?

All of our private tutors are required to hold at least a degree in the subject they tutor at a 2.1 or above or a teaching qualification recognized by the General Teaching Council.  So in the case of study skills all of our private tutors will hold, as a minimum, a degree graded at 2.1 or above and have suitable experience in supporting students within this area.

How do you know your children will be safe with our private tutors?

All of our private tutors hold Enhanced Disclosures (DBS), or Enhanced Disclosure Scotland’s which we check very closely.  The DBS are an executive agency of the Home Office which vets applications for people who want to work with children and vulnerable people.
We interview and obtain 2 references for every private tutor; one work reference and one character reference.  Many of the work referees have worked with the tutor in a teaching environment so they can provide us with a valuable insight in to the way the tutor works with children.  The character referee can also help us determine whether a tutor is suitable to work with children due to their characteristics.

All of our tutors are screened very closely by our Tutor Support team.
