The scholarship exam is a more challenging version of the common entrance exam; it is designed to identify the most able students applying to private independent schools. Those who pass the scholarship exam receive a fee reduction known as a scholarship. A scholarship can be awarded to any pupil based entirely on their performance within a particular subject or field of education and irrespective of background, class or financial stability. Our scholarship tutors can offer your child the extra support they may need.
Fleet Tutors believe that scholarship tuition can only be successful if our private tutors have the relevant qualifications and experience. All of our scholarship tutors must hold a degree in the subject they tutor at 2.1 or above or a teaching qualification recognised by the General Teaching Council.
All of Fleet Tutors’ common entrance tutors are required to have relevant teaching or scholarship tuition experience. Many of our common entrance tutors are qualified teachers; others are experienced tutors with high class degrees. All must have up to date knowledge of the curriculum and the scholarship exams.

All of our private tutors hold Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Certificates (DBS), or Enhanced Disclosure Scotland’s which we check very closely. The CRB are an executive agency of the Home Office which vets applications for people who want to work with children and vulnerable people. We interview and obtain 2 references for every private tutor; one work reference and one character reference. Many of the work referees have worked with the tutor in a teaching environment so they can provide us with a valuable insight in to the way the tutor works with children. The character referee can also help us determine whether a tutor is suitable to work with children for private tuition due to their characteristics. All of our tutors are screened very closely by our Tutor Support team.
