If your child has the potential to benefit from a grammar school education you will want to make sure they are fully prepared for the exams.
Generally, we advise that you start planning for tutoring by the autumn term of year 5, especially as all exams now happen early in the autumn term of year 6. This allows plenty of time to prepare, to secure knowledge and skills as well as perfect exam techniques.
With the exams happening at the beginning of the school year, it also means that children benefit from a steady development of their skills and knowledge rather than last minute cramming. It means that the summer holiday is not fraught with exam preparation. Depending upon holiday arrangements, families have either continued some tutoring through the summer or just have a top up revision and refresh in late August or early September before the exams.
There are 14 local authorities in the UK with selective grammar schools with different arrangements in each area and in each school.
Our teams of tutors across the UK have experience of the different 11 plus exams in their area. They can assess your child’s current ability and prepare a programme of tuition to build maths and English skills as well as verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning as required.
The ideal is to have a steady programme of learning that is engaging and enjoyable, that will develop your child’s abilities and skills and prepares them not only for the exams but for the rigour and demands of grammar school life in year 7.
To enquire about 11 plus tuition in your home during term time, half term or the summer holidays, please give us a call on 0333 920 2545. Our experienced consultants are available weekdays between 9am and 6pm (9am to 5pm on Fridays and weekdays in the summer) to discuss your requirements and help you find a suitable tutor.
Alternatively, if you would like to book a tutor outside our business hours, then please complete our online form using the Arrange Tuition button on the top right corner of this page and one of our team will contact you on the next working day.
